My name is Nicole Franz and I started my nutrition account on the very first day of my senior year of college in August 2017. It’s given me an outlet to pursue my creativity in the kitchen while giving me the opportunity to show people that eating healthy along with living a healthy lifestyle is as easy as you make it. I figured I’d share more about who I am on my website and if you have any questions, or just want to chat about health, fitness, and nutrition, (aka my fav topics) shoot me an email at nicolefranz96@aol.com
1. I want a spacious, white and gray marble-themed kitchen with a large walk-in pantry. I also want my kitchen to be filled with mason jars to keep staples and treats in.
2. I graduated Farmingdale State College with my Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Psychology in May 2018.
3. I have a semi-unusual pet peeve when it comes to lighting. Although I love being outside, enjoying the sunshine, I hate bright room lighting. I argue with my mother on the daily about dimming the lights during dinner time.
4. I ran cross country for six years of my life, and track for four. This sport has challenged me to surpass my limitations both mentally and physically which I have applied to other areas of my life.
5. I have a sister named Christie who is 19 years old (2 years and 3 months younger than me to be exact.) She is incredibly bright and spunky with a sassy sense of humor. I can trust her with any problem I encounter and am beyond lucky to have a lifelong sibling and friend who always has my back.
6. Nick is my boyfriend of over four years. We met in college and I don’t know how I got lucky enough to find someone with an ubiquitous amount of good qualities. He is truly my best friend and role model.
7. I am SUCH a homebody and always prefer staying in over going out. Living my best life entails eating “healthy” desserts while binge watching Breaking Bad (best show ever btw) or The Kardashians. However, I also love to eat so going to a restaurant is probably always a yes from me.
8. I was not always as health conscious as I am now. I grew up eating Pillsbury Crescent Rolls, Kellogg’s Waffles, Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bars, you name it and we ALWAYS (and still do) have some sort of chocolate candy in the house. Although these are just a few snacks, my mother made sure we ate healthy. Neither her nor my Dad ever brought us to fast food chains (I think my Mom took me to Wendy’s once.) She always tried her best by purchasing whole wheat bread over white bread, cooking vegetables with our dinner keeping those sweets to a minimum. On the weekends when I was home from school, my Dad would make me a bowl of cheerios and milk with sliced banana. Nonetheless, our diets still could have been improved upon.
9. My nutrition passion grew out of a strong desire to stop counting calories. I wanted to shift my focus on the quality of my food. I not only wanted to look my best, but also feel my best, inside and out and change my relationship with food to a more positive one rather than a negative one.
10. My first vacation out of the country was to Sofia, Bulgaria and my second was to Cancun, Mexico.
11. My next bucket list travel destination is Australia and meeting Sarah’s Day is honestly 60 percent of the reason.
12. I have a weird ritual of doing things in threes.
13. My favorite foods (jeez we could be here until tomorrow) include: apples, dark chocolate, almond butter, goat cheese, fettucine alfredo, penne alla vodka, pot roast with carrots, and steak, to name a few LOL.
14. I started my Master’s in Behavioral Neuroscience this past August at Queen’s College, however, I realized this path was not for me and I am not going for Dietetics.
15. I suck at math but was a great Bio and Psychology student hence my natural gravitation towards pursuing neuroscience.
16. My favorite 7/11 coffee: Brazilian Dark Roast with Silk Almond Creamer and Cinnamon.
17. I LOVE grocery shopping and my Mom will usually send me with her credit card when she’s in a pinch which can be a dangerous thing, but so far so good.
18. I have learned in life that you need to be fully capable of taking care of yourself and your future, only you can truly motivate yourself to reach your goals.
19. My middle name is Alexis. Nicole Alexis Franz.
20. I am a Libra which seemingly makes sense to me since the hardest personal task is to strive for an optimal sense of balance.
21. I tend to overthink about EVERYTHING in my life and am trying hard to overcome that.
22. I always put my hair in a pony tail before I eat.
